Better Late than Never

Here are some Zen quotes about nature: "Nature is what she is-amoral and persistent". "There is nothing useless in nature; not even uselessness itself". "Nature has neither kernel nor shell; she is everything at once". "The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness". Finding Awareness

“The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.” — Lao Tzu You’ve attained technical mastery with your camera and perhaps even with on-/off-camera lighting. now what? How do you connect; how do you move from the typical to the extraordinary? what to do, what to see…differently, or compose…differently;

Zen Photography

Photography "When we stand on top of the mountain, gazing at the sunset, we can clearly see the dazzling colors and shapes of clouds draped over the distant mountains, yet at the same time, we also feel the warm evening breeze touching our bodies, we smell the dampness of the mountain pines.... all sensory experience contribute to our experience of the sunset. It may be that we have to turn the camera away from the sunset and photograph our big toes, or some other image that evokes the totality of the experience of the sunset... the composer who is locked into only the visual phenomena of the sunset may miss the heart of what was actually being experienced.... This is why wholebody and mind seeing is so important." John Daido Loori

“Zen is not some kind of excitement, but concentration on our usual everyday routine.” - Shunryu Suzuki Do one thing at a time. This rule (and some of the others that follow) will be familiar to long-time Zen Habits readers. It’s part of my philosophy, and it’s also a part of the life of a Zen monk: single-task, don’t multi-task. When you’re pouring water, just pour water. When you’re eating, just eat. When you’re bathing, just bathe. Don’t try to knock off a few tasks while eating or bathing. Zen proverb: “When walking, walk. When eating, eat.” Do it slowly and deliberately. You can do one task at a time, but also rush that task. Instead, take your time, and move slowly. Make your actions deliberate, not rushed and random. It takes practice, but it helps you focus on the task. Do it completely. Put your mind completely on the task. Don’t move on to the next task until you’re finished. If, for some reason, you have no choice but to move on to something else, try to at least put away ...
